About the Magis range

Three chassis bands. Compliant Australian install.

The Immergas Magis is an outdoor monoblock air-source heat pump range, designed for residential and light-commercial hydronic systems. Three chassis bands cover the full Australian household heat-load spectrum — 4–6 kW for compact apartments and townhouses, 8–16 kW for typical residential whole-home applications, and 18–30 kW for large homes and small-commercial sites.

The Magis is supplied into Australia by Hunt Heating, who hold the master distribution agreement for Immergas hydronic heat pumps. AHHAC is an authorised installer and works directly with Hunt Heating for parts supply, warranty registration and ongoing service support across NSW, VIC and QLD.

Every Magis install carried out by AHHAC follows the Immergas Australia compliance schedule: anti-vibration feet, minimum 100 mm ground clearance for the condensate drain, the Magis Main Controller installed outside the unit (with optional weatherproof enclosure), and Adey MC Zero inhibitor as standard whenever the system runs in cooling mode.

Immergas Australia installation compliance — at a glance

  • Transport bracket / mount MUST be removed at install before commissioning.
  • Anti-vibration feet are mandatory — supplied with the unit.
  • Minimum 100 mm off the ground to allow condensate drain installation.
  • Adey MC Zero corrosion inhibitor MUST be used in any cooling-mode installation.
  • Anti-corrosive treatment recommended in high-salt coastal areas.
  • Magis Main Controller MUST be installed outside the unit — weatherproof enclosures available.
  • Heat pump MUST be isolatable with electrical disconnect during service.
  • Special access equipment (scaffolding etc.) is the client's responsibility.
  • Hydraulic kit: 32 mm BUM unions, 32 mm Y-strainer (R881Y002), tee, ball valves, auto air vent.
  • Third-party thermostat input is supported via the Hydro PCB — single and three-phase wiring schematics differ.

Commissioning checklist

  1. Menu → Serviceman → enter passcode 234 to access commissioning parameters.
  2. Set DHW mode (yes / no based on whether a hot water cylinder is fitted) and confirm.
  3. Set Cool mode (yes / no based on whether the install supports chilled water — Adey MC Zero required if yes) and confirm.
  4. Configure Room Thermostat — One Zone for single-zone, multi-zone configuration for staged sites.
  5. Set flow temperature to the required set-point — typically 35–45 °C for underfloor, 55–65 °C for radiators.
  6. To reset any fault: turn the unit off and on. There is a 5-minute restart delay after fault reset.
  7. Initial E4 error on startup is normal — clears once commissioning parameters are confirmed.
Project fit

Where the Immergas Magis works best.

The Magis is most often specified where outdoor-clearance flexibility, three-phase availability or the Hunt Heating service network is the deciding factor.

Apartment / townhouse (4–6 kW)

Compact unit with the smallest clearance envelope in the Magis range — fits on small balconies, courtyards and side walkways. Single-phase only.

Family home (8–16 kW)

Workhorse mid-band Magis. Pairs with hydronic underfloor, radiator panels and DHW cylinders. Available single or three-phase depending on chassis.

Large home / small commercial (18–30 kW)

Three-phase only. Suits 350 m² + houses, two-storey designer builds, and small offices, daycare or gym sites.

Heat-pump replacement

The Magis works with existing hydronic distribution (radiators, fan coils, underfloor) at conventional flow temperatures — ideal as a like-for-like upgrade of older heat pumps.

Cooling-capable retrofits

Where a homeowner wants to add summer chilled-water cooling to an existing hydronic system, the Magis reverses cycle and we add Adey MC Zero inhibitor to the loop.

BMS / smart-thermostat sites

Third-party thermostat input on the Hydro PCB allows integration with MAXA wall thermostats, BMS systems or smart-home gateways.

Common questions

Immergas Magis — FAQ

Who is Immergas and where are Immergas heat pumps made?+
Immergas is one of Italy's leading hydronic heating manufacturers, founded in 1964 in Brescello, Italy. The Immergas Magis range of air-source heat pumps is designed and manufactured in Italy and supplied into the Australian market through Hunt Heating, who are the master distributor for Immergas hydronic heat pumps in Australia.
What sizes are available in the Immergas Magis range?+
The Magis range comes in three chassis bands — 4–6 kW (compact apartments and townhouses), 8–16 kW (residential whole-home heating and cooling), and 18–30 kW (large homes, light commercial and multi-zone hydronic). Each band has different clearance and installation requirements, all of which AHHAC handles at the design stage.
What's the power-supply requirement?+
Two configurations: single-phase 230 V AC 50 Hz for the smaller residential models, and three-phase 380 V AC 50 Hz for the larger residential and commercial models. AHHAC checks switchboard and consumer mains capacity at the design audit — for retrofits, we coordinate any required electrical upgrades.
Where can the Immergas Magis be installed?+
The unit is designed for outdoor installation. It MUST be mounted on anti-vibration feet, with a minimum 100 mm clearance off the ground for the condensate drain. The Magis Main Controller MUST be installed outside the unit (weatherproof boxes available). In high-salt coastal areas Immergas recommend anti-corrosive treatment of the outer chassis as part of commissioning.
What are the clearance requirements?+
Clearances vary by chassis size. For the 4–6 kW unit: 300 mm sides, 1000 mm rear, 600 mm front, 200 mm top. For the 8–16 kW unit: 300 mm sides, 1500 mm rear, 600 mm front, 200 mm top. For the 18–30 kW unit: 300 mm sides, 3000 mm rear, 600 mm front — top clearance is unrestricted. AHHAC validates clearances against your specific site at survey.
Why does the install require an Adey MC Zero in cooling mode?+
When the Magis runs in cooling mode it circulates chilled water through the hydronic loop. Adey MC Zero is a chemical inhibitor that prevents corrosion, scaling and microbiological growth in the hydronic circuit, which is critical when running the system below dew-point. Immergas mandates MC Zero in any Magis cooling install — AHHAC includes it as standard.
Can a Magis heat pump run with a third-party thermostat?+
Yes. The Magis controller supports a third-party thermostat input on the Hydro PCB inside the unit — useful for sites that already have a smart-home or BMS thermostat, or where AHHAC fits a MAXA wall thermostat for per-zone control. Wiring is straightforward for both single-phase and three-phase versions.
What system additions are needed beyond the heat pump itself?+
A standard Magis install requires: 32 mm BUM unions and ball valves on flow and return, a 32 mm Y-strainer (R881Y002), a flow / return tee, an automatic air vent, and the secondary system pump (if heat-pump operating its own circulation isn't sufficient for the building load). AHHAC supplies all hydraulic accessories as a kit so commissioning is single-visit.
What's the warranty on the Magis?+
Manufacturer warranty is up to 5 years on the unit when registered with Hunt Heating and serviced annually by an authorised installer. AHHAC includes a workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer cover and offers annual service contracts that maintain warranty validity.
Does AHHAC install Immergas Magis nationwide?+
Yes — AHHAC installs the full Magis range across NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD from our Punchbowl (NSW), Laverton North (VIC) and Banyo (QLD) workshops. Scope includes heat-loss design, hydraulic schematic, certificate of compliance, commissioning and annual service.
