The short answer

Updated

AHHAC provides commercial and domestic plumbing services in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, from repairs, blocked drains and leak detection to hot water replacement, heat pumps, water filtration and commercial fit-outs. Our licensed in-house plumbers have worked on Sydney homes since 1998, when we started as AJ's Plumbing, and our phone line is answered by tradesmen, not a call centre. Same-day hot water replacement is available in most metro areas, with Rheem and Rinnai stock at all six showrooms.

Getting a first-visit fix from a Sydney plumber: what to have ready

Most plumbing jobs that need a second visit go that way for one reason: the wrong part, or the wrong information, reached site first. Our vans carry the common-fail parts, but a two-minute brief on the phone is what lets us load the right ones. Whether it is a weeping flexi hose under a vanity or a plant-room fault in a commercial building, these are the questions our tradesmen will ask.

  • Where is the water going? A photo of the leak, ceiling stain or overflowing gully, and whether the water meter is still ticking over with every tap turned off.
  • What is the hot water unit? The brand, model and manufacture date on the data plate tell us capacity, fuel type and whether a like-for-like swap or an upgrade makes more sense.
  • Who owns the pipe? In strata buildings, pipes and stacks within common property are generally the owners corporation's responsibility rather than the lot owner's, so your strata manager's details can save a day.
  • How do we get in? Where the main stopcock sits, gate or lift codes, van parking, and for commercial sites any induction, after-hours or permit-to-work rules.

Domestic and commercial plumbing run on different clocks. At home the priority is stopping the damage and getting hot water back, often the same day. On commercial and strata sites we work to agreed response tiers, plan shutdowns around trading hours and tenants, and hand over AS/NZS 3500 compliance paperwork that facility managers can file against the asset. Our commercial plumbing team also runs planned maintenance, so faults are found on a scheduled visit rather than late on a Friday.

If something is actively leaking, turn the water off at the meter first, then call. Burst pipes, sewer overflows and no hot water go straight to our plumbing repairs and callouts crew. If you are planning a replacement rather than reacting to a failure, the hot water systems overview explains the options, and strata committees weighing a central plant upgrade can read how we approached one in our Sydney strata hot water case study.

Plumbing FAQs

What you need to know.

How fast can you get to a plumbing problem?

Fast — when you call, you reach an experienced tradesman, not a call-centre operator. Typical same-day dispatch for burst pipes, blocked sewers, hot water failures, boiler shutdowns and gas leaks, with fully-stocked vans for a first-visit fix.

How quickly can you replace a hot water system?

Same-day in most metro areas. We carry full Rheem and Rinnai stock at all six showrooms, plus Viessmann DHW heat pumps. We handle STC rebate paperwork, compliance certificates, and old unit removal as part of the install.

Do you handle commercial and strata work?

Yes — we run a dedicated commercial team for hotels, hospitals, schools, offices and retail. We also work with body corporates and strata managers across multiple buildings, with SLA-backed response times and planned maintenance contracts.

How do I know which hot water system to choose?

Six factors decide it: household size, peak simultaneous flow, available fuels, roof orientation, budget split between up-front and running cost, and how long you'll live in the home. We'll size, spec and quote three options within 24 hours of your enquiry.

Will you find a leak without breaking my walls?

Yes. We use thermal imaging, acoustic sensors and hydrogen tracer gas to pinpoint leaks within 5–10cm — no demolition. We provide insurance-grade reporting and a same-day quote on the repair.
